Dear Parents,
**IMPORTANT** Please check your phone numbers on the snow tree list that your child brought home today. Some parents aren’t getting the snow delay/closure information because of incorrect numbers that were listed in School Speak. If the number is incorrect, please call the person that is listed as the caller in your box today and give them your correct number. Also call the school so we can have your correct number, too.
Thank you to the parents that chaperoned the field trip last Thursday. It was a wonderful play. The students had many things to write about in their journals! I also noticed that everyone was on time, just like on Valentine’s Day. I told the students that it is so great when we can all start the day together and that they should pretend that every morning is a field trip or Valentine’s Day!! J
We read some of the journal bag stories today. It sounds like my critters had a good weekend! Some students left the animal or journal at home. On Sunday evening when you are helping your child get things ready for school the next day, please have your child see if the journal, animal and all the books are in the bag. This will be the weekend homework for the rest of the year. It is very important that all the contents get returned each week so they can be sent home with someone else that week. At the end of the year, all the students will get to keep one journal, so we want to keep them circulating so the journals will have everyone’s stories in them.
Tomorrow, February 28th, is Mardi Gras. The 5th & 6th grade classes will be having a bake sale at lunch. The following day, March 1st, is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.
Thursday is Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Last Friday, the students enjoyed making their Cat in the Hat hats with words that rhyme with cat and hat. Our sixth grade buddies also made hats and we were very impressed with their three and four syllable rhyming words! When we finished our hats, we enjoyed reading Dr. Seuss books with our buddies. Thank you to the families that sent in books so we could share them with our buddies. It was a fun Friday! We will continue our Dr. Seuss celebration this week. We will return the borrowed books on Friday.
To celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday on Thursday, we will be having a Read-In with Pre-K to 4th grades. Your child can bring a blanket and pillow on this day. We will take them down to the hall, wear our hats, get comfy, and read with our buddies.
This Thursday is also an important required parent meeting at 6:00 pm in the parish hall. This is the annual state of the school meeting. We will have daycare for Pre-K to 2nd grade students in the Pre K room and 3rd to 8th grade students will be in the gym. At the end of the meeting, parents will receive a free dress coupon for their child.
K-2 will be having their second stewardship meeting at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 15th. We will start the meeting in the main floor computer lab.
