Dear Parents,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I want to thank you for the beautiful cards and gifts. Our school is truly blessed with so many loving and caring families. Even though I enjoyed the restful break, it was nice to be back. Your children also seemed excited to be back, so it was easy to get back into our routine.
For Seasonal Math on Fridays this month, your child needs to bring a pair of gloves or mittens. In Math, we will also be working on number value to 50, subtraction and using tens and ones. In Reading, we will be working on the short u sound, digraph sounds (ch, sh, th, wh) and antonyms (opposites.) In Religion, our unit will be about Epiphany and the gifts that we can bring to Jesus. In Social Studies, we will be learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. In Science, we will begin our unit on the Day and Night Sky.
It is time to send in a second large box of crackers. Please do not send in boxes with individual servings. A large box of crackers lasts a lot longer. A few parents have already sent in a second box so they do not need to send in another one. Thank you for getting us by, if you have done this already!
We have a field trip scheduled for Friday, January 27th. Seattle Prep has invited us to attend Freshman Fun Day. We will be picked up around 9:15 am. and then the programming will be from 10:00 to 12:00 noon. The time will involve:
-partnering with a big buddy (a freshman)
-going around different “carnival” booths (they will be given passports and get a stamp for every fun station they do)
-a fun science class (making gak)
-a fun art class
-hip hop dance class with our dance team
-snacks (water, cookies, popcorn)
-outdoor activities like sack race
The Kindergarten and First Grade classes went a couple years ago and it was one of their favorite field trips, so I was very happy that they invited us back this year! J Permission slips will be sent home next week.
Thank you! Toni Royal
