Dear Parents,
We had a wonderful Catholic Schools Week last week. We had a lot of fun celebrating our school and our families. It was especially nice to see so many of our families at the Family Lunch!
Tomorrow is the 100th day of school! HAPPY 100 DAY!! The 100 Day shirts that students brought in look great! If you have a place to keep it, it would be great if your child saved it for next year to wear for 100 Day in first grade. We will have several activities throughout the rest of the week involving the concept of 100. Part of tomorrow’s homework is to bring 100 things on Friday that we will use for Seasonal Math.
In reading, we will be working on sight words. I will be assessing all the students on the Dolch sight words. After I get everything copied, they will be bringing home sight word books and their assessments so you can see where they are. Once a week, I will assess them and send home the assessment. If it says PASS, it means they can read all the words without hesitation or trying to sound them out. Then they will be working on the next page of words. They will be bringing home a set of flashcards that corresponds with the list they are working on. Have them read through the cards.
Next Tuesday, February 14th, we will be having our Valentine’s Party with our 4th grade buddies in the afternoon. At the bottom of this page are the names of your child’s classmates and teachers. If your child wants to bring Valentine’s on this day, have him/her practice reading the names. It will make it easier to pass them out. Please have your child save the valentines they receive. We will be using them for Seasonal Math next Friday, February 17th. If anyone would like to donate anything for our treat bags or donate a couple dollars, I would like to put together treat bags (similar to the Halloween treat bags) for our party. If anyone would like to put them together, please let me know and I will pass off the things people have sent in. We will need 37 treat bags.
